As a boy Ron already knew that he wanted to start a life for himself in Amsterdam. He grew up in Hoorn, north of the city, but was attracted to the raw energy and its straightforward nature. So after school he moved, enrolled in a cooking school and the rest, as they say, is history. He opened his first restaurant in 1999, where just five years later he was awarded his first Michelin star. It was from that moment on that his career took off, with more restaurant openings, Michelin stars and collaborations. He's mentored many chefs, can often be seen on the television and above all, has made top quality cuisine more accessible.
